At Smartmates, we believe good business grows through trusted relationships. That’s why we’ve created the Smartmates Referral Program, a simple, transparent way for you to benefit when you introduce us to new clients.

When you share your network and refer clients to Smartmates, you’re not just helping them access Australia & New Zealand’s #1 Zoho and HubSpot Partner, you’re also rewarded with ongoing commissions for every hour we work with them.

Whether you’re a consultant, agency, business partner, or simply someone who knows a business in need of smarter systems, this program is designed to thank you for your trust and support.

How it works

• When you refer a client to us, you earn 10% of the billable service fees we receive from them.
• Your commission is capped at NZD $3,000 per referred client (equivalent to 10% of $30,000 in billables).
• The commission applies for 18 months from the client’s first paid invoice.
• It’s based on the actual rates we charge at the time of service.

What counts as a referral

• A referral must be made through a written introduction, email is perfect.
• The client must be new to Smartmates.
• They cannot be a past or existing client.
• They cannot already be in discussion with us.
• They cannot be referred to by anyone else.

Client quality

• Referrals must be new to Smartmates, and commission is payable only on amounts actually received by Smartmates from the client.
• Refunds or credits cannot exceed 10% of billed fees.
• Clients must act respectfully and professionally.
• They must sign and follow our Service Agreement & NDA.
• If these standards are not met, commission payments may stop.

How we work

• We bill on a time-based consultancy model.
• We do not offer fixed-fee delivery projects.
• We invest 3–4 hours of scoping time at no cost.
• For detailed SOWs, tenders, or complex planning, we require a pre-paid 10-hour scoping pack.
• We do not apply for tenders or complete in-depth SOW documentation unless our time is paid
• Payments and reporting
• We send quarterly reports showing referred clients, billings, and commission totals.
• Commissions are paid quarterly in arrears, within 14 days after the quarter ends.
• Payments go directly to your nominated bank account.
• We only pay commission on amounts actually received, after any cooling-off or refund periods.

No pressure

• There’s no minimum number of referrals.
• We are not obliged to accept every lead.

Annual review

We review this program each year to ensure it stays fair, competitive, and aligned with industry best practice.
